Save the date for a a fantastic show with the LYNNeS on Saturday, April 21.
Lynne Hanson has been collaborating for a number of years with Juno-award winning songwriter Lynn Miles. They have co-written songs together and Lynn Miles has produced two of Lynne Hanson’s albums (River of Sand, 7 Deadly Spins). They have played dates in Canada as well as toured in the US and Europe. After including three co-writes on Lynne’s latest album Uneven Ground they decided to officially form The LYNNeS! They went into the studio this August to record a full album of their co-writes and are touring in 2018 – starting with an album release tour in Europe.
We are thrilled to have them.
LYNNE HANSON is known for her hard-living style of music, mixing gritty ballads with driving roots-tinged guitar. Her deep bluesy croon is pure and full of fortitude, and she’s drawn comparisons to Lucinda Williams, with a touch of Gillian Welch thrown in. In her brand new release Uneven Ground (April 2017), produced by Winnipeg’s Scott Nolan, she explores the realm of giving sound advice through songwriting and fighting back against the devil within us. With a liberal amount of Texas grit and a polished Nashville sensibility, it would be easy to assume the Canadian songwriter came from the southern USA. The songs are brimming over with imagery and cleverly penned lyrics and fall into the next generation of roots and blues music while still respecting traditions.
LYNN MILES is one of Canada’s most accomplished singer/songwriters. With 12 albums to her credit, the winner of multiple Canadian Folk Music awards (2011 English Songwriter of the Year), and a 2003 Juno award for Roots and Traditional Solo Album of the Year, she has certainly found her strength over time. Through a career that has seen her move from Ottawa to Los Angeles and back again, with stops in Nashville and Austin TX., and a healthy touring schedule that regularly takes her through the US, Europe and across Canada, she has always created and performed music with unbridled feeling and vulnerability. Her new release “Downpour” has been receiving glowing reviews.
The show will be at the Barrie Public Library in the maker area. The show starts at 7:30 p.m.
