BarrieFolk is thrilled to partner with the Mariposa Folk Foundation to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Mariposa Folk Festival with a special evening of music featuring three Canadian music icons.
Multi-award winning musicians Lynn Miles, Valdy and Suzie Vinnick will join together in an intimate concert setting at the Five Points Theatre in Barrie on Sunday, March 15 at 7:30 p.m.
Lynn Miles is one of Canada’s most accomplished singer/songwriters. With 12 albums to her credit, the winner of multiple Canadian Folk Music awards (2011 English Songwriter of the Year), and a 2003 Juno award for Roots and Traditional Solo Album of the Year, she has certainly found her strength over time.
Through a career that has seen her move from Ottawa to Los Angeles and back again, with stops in Nashville and Austin TX., and a healthy touring schedule that regularly takes her through the US, Europe and across Canada, she has always created and performed music with unbridled feeling and vulnerability.
Lynn’s new release Downpour has been receiving glowing reviews.

Folk legend Valdy has 16 albums, 22 singles and four gold records. He has won two Juno awards (Country Male Vocalist and Folksinger) and is one of the country’s purest and most credible storytellers.
Valdy has toured Canada for 46 years, and plays regularly in New Zealand with Kiwi mate Graham Wardrop. He has also toured Austria, Denmark, Germany, Holland, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland, and was an oft-invited performer at the Kerrville Folk Festival in Texas. He was invested as a member of the Order of Canada in 2012.
He’s a master of country, folk, rock and blues, and his shows are a disarming and practical blend of respect for the audience and show business.

A Saskatoon native transplanted to the Niagara Region of Ontario, Suzie Vinnick is the proud owner of a gorgeous voice, prodigious guitar and bass chops, and an engagingly candid performance style.
Her career has seen triumph after triumph. Among her most recent successes: being awarded the 2019 Saskatchewan Jazz Festival Special Recognition Award and being nominated for a 2018 Canadian Folk Music Award for Producer of the Year with her co-producer, Mark Lalama. Suzie has won 10 Maple Blues Awards, won the 2011 Canadian Folk Music Award for Contemporary Vocalist of the Year and is a three-time Juno nominee.
Suzie’s latest album is a full-band roots and blues extravaganza entitled Shake The Love Around.
