The Barrie Folk Society and Barrie Public Library have postponed their June 13 joint fundraiser event featuring Treasa Levasseur to Saturday, Sept. 20. If you have purchased a ticket for the June 13 Gala, it will be honoured on Sept. 20. If Sept. 20 is not a good date for you and you wish a refund, please contact info@barriefolk.com. Plans are already underway for the fourth annual BarrieFolk: Roots Music Festival. Be sure to mark Oct. 31 and Nov. 1, 2008 on your calendars. Yes – the festival is moving to two days this year. Friday night will feature the Barrie Folk Society’s annual Youth Song Competition, followed by a special performance by Silk Road. Tickets are $10 for this special show.
Arnie Ivsins, BarrieFolk’s Artistic Director, has released the names of a few performers scheduled to perform at this year’s festival. So far, the line-up includes:
